The Oshawa Legion Minor Baseball Association knows that COVID-19 has taken a major toll on families in the Oshawa and surrounding area. We weathered the storm of the pandemic, and over the last two years, we’ve made every effort to ensure that kids in our area would still be able to play the game of baseball they love.

We see 2022 as a year to build on the lessons learned from the pandemic and make the upcoming summer better than ever. To ensure that outcome for all children in the Oshawa area, we approached the Ontario Trillium Foundation for assistance through their Resilient Communities Grant.

We are ecstatic to inform the Baseball Oshawa family at large that our application was approved in full!
The funds allocated to Baseball Oshawa will be used to purchase brand new pitching machines for our House League Rookie Ball (8u/9u) program so that players at that level are better positioned if and when they transition to the Select and Rep Programming offered by the association.

In addition, we are using the funds to ensure that all House League head coaches and Select head coaches are able to take foundational courses offered through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) of Canada.

These are the same courses required by our rep coaches to ensure the highest levels of instruction and development of players in the Oshawa Legion Minor Baseball Association. In addition, we are building on the heels of Baseball Oshawa players being featured in some of the instructional videos offered by Baseball Canada with the relaunch of the Rally Cap initiative. We are extremely excited to be offering the newly redesigned Rally Cap program here in Oshawa for players aged 4 and 5. With the generous support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we have been able to secure the equipment needed for ALL of our Rally Cap participants AND the NCCP certifications for those new Rally Cap coaches. Every Rally Cap player will be getting a brand new helmet!
In the coming weeks, Baseball Oshawa volunteers will be making the rounds to the fields used by the organization, ensuring our storage facilities are stocked and secured so that when the season starts, we can show the entire province and country just how resilient our community is.

On behalf of everyone in the Oshawa Legion Minor Baseball Association, THANK YOU to the Ontario Trillium Foundation and to you, the families and players for playing the game we all love.
