Baseball Oshawa grads named OCAA All-Stars

Griffin Oliver, Mark Baxter, and Zach Rivers of the Durham Lords earned spots on all-star teams, along with AJ Rowe of the Seneca Sting and Nolan Rice of the Fanshawe Falcons.

Five standout athletes from Baseball Oshawa have been recognized among the top players in OCAA baseball.

Griffin Oliver, Mark Baxter, and Zach Rivers of the Durham Lords earned spots on all-star teams, along with AJ Rowe of the Seneca Sting and Nolan Rice of the Fanshawe Falcons.

OCAA FIRST TEAM ALL-STAR

Griffin Oliver made a triumphant return to college baseball while also working as a paramedic this fall. In his fourth season, he jumped into the Top 10 all-time for hits with 65 in 61 games, boasting a career batting average of .327. This year, Oliver achieved an impressive .462 batting average over 199 plate appearances. Oliver was part of the Durham Lords 2019 Canadian College championship team and was also the starting shortstop for the Baseball Legionaires, who won the Canadian Junior title.  

OCAA SECOND TEAM ALL-STARS

Zach Rivers had an outstanding season in the outfield, earning his place as a Second Team All-Star for the Durham Lords. At the plate, he hit .360 and recorded 14 stolen bases in 15 games. Defensively, he made 21 putouts, had 2 assists, and maintained a .958 fielding percentage.

Mark Baxter was one of the primary pitchers for the Lords, starting 5 of their 19 games. He completed 3 games and finished with a record of 3-2. After beginning the season in relief, he transitioned to a starting role. Baxter posted an ERA of 3.23 over 30 innings pitched.

AJ Rowe proved to be a versatile player for the Seneca Sting, contributing both offensively and defensively in his 19 games. He recorded a batting average of .333 while playing multiple positions. The former Legionaires Elite player is currently in his third year of the Fire Protection Engineering Technology program.

Nolan Rice, a first-year shortstop, made an immediate impact in his debut season, earning a spot on the OCAA All-Rookie Team. He finished among the top five in the OCAA for both batting average (.465) and on-base percentage (.579).
