Volunteer

house league volunteer opportunities

"Little League baseball is a very good thing because it keeps the parents off the streets." - Yogi Berra

Did you know that all House League coaches are volunteers, and that no formal baseball or coaching experience is necessary? All that's required to get involved is a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn.

We'll help you along the way, providing you with a Coach's Handbook, outlining skills the kids should be learning, ensuring that your season is fun and enjoyable.

How to Become a Coach

  • Must be 15 years of age or older
  • Coaches under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guardian or 18+ Head Coach/Assistant Coach at all times
  • Indicate interest during your child's registration, or directly contact House League Director Lisa Howcroft (thehowcrofts@bell.net). Please email Lisa if you're unsure about coaching but would like to learn more.

Additional Considerations

  • If you would like to co-coach with someone specific, please let us know.
  • A current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) is required for coaches and assistant coaches who are 18 years or older. We will provide a letter in order to complete this requirement. The VSC is valid for two years, and one completed for another league can be used.
  • If applicable, coaches automatically have their child placed on their team. Any further player requests are at the the House League Director's discretion.

When will I hear about coaching if I’ve indicated interest?

  • Mid-late April: Coaches will be contacted by the House League Director
  • A start-up coaches meeting will be held either in-person or online in early-mid May. Uniform, hat, and equipment handout will be discussed then. Players will receive their uniform, top, and hat at their first scheduled team practice.
