Baseball Oshawa's Zoe McGregor and Brian Gillan were honoured by the Eastern Ontario Baseball Association at the 2021 Awards on Saturday, Nov. 27.

This came days after both won Baseball Oshawa awards.

Rep team award winners also honoured by EOBA

The Eastern Ontario Baseball Association handed out its 2021 Rep Baseball Awards on Saturday, Nov. 27 and Rep Female player of the year.

Rep Female player of the year

Zoe McGregor

Zoe is a baseball player!! She is a player who demonstrates effort both on the field and off. This young lady is a 2 sport athlete who puts aside time for both her sports and ensures she practices to keep evolving her skills, knowledge and gameplay. Zoe is a fantastic teammate and loves playing baseball with anyone who wants to play and have fun. It's hard to find her without a smile on her face. Zoe has been playing baseball for 8 seasons now and 4 of those years with the Oshawa Legionaries Rep A program. She continues to grow and develop her game and has become a great leader on that team. This summer, she was the team's MVP, and she is an all-around great kid to coach as anything you ask of her, she will work on and succeed at.  She is an excellent part of the team and we're happy to watch her grow in the game of baseball.

Troy May Award

Brian Gillan

The Troy May Person of the Year award to the player within the EOBA is deemed to have been an extraordinary contributor to their host association and the sport of Baseball in their community. Those who combine academic excellence and/or volunteer activities will receive additional consideration. The 2021 recipient is Brian Gillan of Baseball Oshawa.

My friend and coach Brian Gillan is a diehard coach. He is the heartbeat of his team.
He arrives at every game and every practice 30 minutes or more prior to all games and practices. Usually, when I show up, all the equipment is set up, including bases put out, bow-nets set up, and any other equipment that we are using that day. Brian brings the most positive attitude to all team events. Players gravitate to him for questions and tips.
This year has been especially difficult for him and his family. He lost his mother in May and yet still hardly missed a beat. Since his mother passed, his father, who is housebound and in need of constant 24 care, has quickly started to fade. Brian makes all PSW care arrangements to rarely miss a team event.
He is the model of what should be the Junior coach of the year. I could write miles more, but I believe you can see the dedication that he has shown me for 6 straight years. It is time that we recognize Brian Gillan for his selfless love of baseball.
