Jayson DesLauriers, Baseball Oshawa Vice President and President Ken Babcock share their thoughts on the time the 12U Legionaires spent at Kinsmen Stadium on Sunday

Jayson DesLauriers, Baseball Oshawa Vice President and President Ken Babcock share their thoughts on the time the 12U Legionaires spent at Kinsmen Stadium on Sunday going through drills and meeting police officers, along with group of youth workers, nurses, counsellors and support personnel.

Here is what Jayson had to say about this touching afternoon.

Today has been a day that I will never forget. An 18u team ( with a Marshall and a Baker)and a 12u team, came together at a baseball stadium.
Players on both teams, as well as their families, and our association have felt such a loss over these last couple of days, it was an amazing feeling seeing them interact and for a brief afternoon, forget.
For the players on this 12u, who have lost a coach and a teammate, your resilience today was inspiring. Thank you for sharing with me, my players, parents, and all involved what courage looks like.
To the caring and special group of youth workers, nurses, counsellors, and DRPS members who volunteered their time today to be a part of this, I cannot say enough. I am extremely proud to be a member of this community and honoured to know that Oshawa has people like you.
To the parents of my 18u team, a massive thanks. You stepped up in a last minute ask. You came through in sparkling colours. From snocones and popcorn, to pizza, veggies, fruit, cupcakes, brownies and ice cream.  What a wonderful
group you are.
To the 18u boys, you touched me today. You showed why I get kudos every time you step on the field. You continue to make me proud. It is my pleasure to be your coach.
There was an obstacle course, batting cages, hitting off tees for velos, and a wiffle ball game and the scoreboard said it all.
Thank you everyone for making Kinsmen an even more magical place!!
Go Legionaires!!

Ken Babcock's comments

What a great day at the baseball field today. Many happy faces and bringing the 12U team together with the 18U team for some fun and development at a time when these young boys needed it. Thanks to all who contributed and made this a very special day.
Shout out to Nate Marshall and Evan Baker from the 17U team for helping out.
And very special thanks to Domino’s Pizza King St (Teddy’s Plaza) for partial donation of Pizza for this event.
